Liberal Arts

Mount Saint Mary College offers 47 undergraduate programs.

Foundation courses in the liberal arts and sciences give students a general appreciation for the achievements of humankind as well as the thinking and communication skills needed for a successful life.

In addition to traditional liberal arts programs, professional preparation is offered in accounting, business management, computer science, education, human services, information technology, media studies, nursing, physical therapy and public relations.

Pre-professional programs include: dentistry, law, medicine and veterinary science.

Students also have the opportunity to study abroad and to participate in Cooperative Education, which allows students to explore potential career interests.

Technology

Mount Saint Mary College is a pioneer in the use of wireless technology. As The New York Times reported April 20, 2000, the Mount experience "...provides a glimpse of the future in which online access is literally everywhere, all the time."

Mount students have the technology needed to be immediately effective in their careers.

Campus Technology Center

The Campus Technology Center in Aquinas Hall offers a variety of computer services for all students and faculty. It includes a general access laboratory with 30 multimedia PC's, which is available to students during all open hours and three computer classrooms with a total of 60 multimedia computers, also available for general use when no classes are scheduled.

All Campus Technology Center PC's are fully multimedia-enabled. Each PC includes a 2.4 GHz Pentium IV processor(tm), 19 inch Monitor, and DVD and RW drives. In addition, the Center provides students with access to flatbed scanners, video capture devices, two high-volume laser printers, a color laser printer, several color ink-jet printers and ZIP Drives(tm).

The Campus Technology Center software includes: Microsoft Office XP Professional, Internet Explorer, SPSS Statistics Software, Adobe Photoshop Elements and programming languages including C++, Java, and Pascal. There is also a wide variety of specialized software, simulations and tutorials to support many disciplines.

Lab Supervisors and Student Lab Assistants are always available to aid students in their use of the lab. During the traditional semesters the Campus Technology Center is open seven days a week. Training sessions in the use of the lab are offered periodically throughout the year.
