Dowling College is a private, coeducational college with main campuses located in Oakdale, Shirley, and Melville, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It was established in 1955 as an extension of Adelphi College. In 1968, the College became an independent institution and was renamed to Dowling College after its chief benefactor, Robert Dowling, a well-known city planner, philanthropist, and aviator. Dowling College grants admission to more than 6,000 students every year.
